In the marketing and communications industry, I’m usually called a creative copywriter — but storyteller or brand builder works just as well.
Essentially, I help brands, businesses, ministries and local governments to develop and tell their stories. The way I shape that story depends on the core message and the target audience. But the real challenge is to create a story that holds an undeniable truth, a refreshing insight that seems so logical the target audience instantly connects with it. I've done my job well when a brand, product or service becomes a natural part of the audience's life.
I learned the craft of copywriting at some of the best advertising agencies in the Netherlands, including TBWA\Neboko, DDB Amsterdam and PPGH/JWT (now VML). Today, I work freelance for clients such as Snapchat, Heineken, Authority of Financial Markets (AFM), HMSHost International and the Dutch Heart Foundation.
With 20 years in advertising and experience as Oilily’s creative brand director, my work has earned recognition from Cannes Lions, D&AD, The Webbys, ADCN, Esprix, SAN, and Effies.
